BENEFITS OF USING
100% BAMBOO PRODUCTS
Bamboo is a renewable resource that can be harvested anywhere from 1 to 5 years depending on exactly which species was planted. Thats a crazy turnaround! It grows at a far faster rate than any other plant; sometimes more than 3 feet in a single day, and after harvesting, it will grow a new shoot from the root system thats left. There is no need to replant! Other hardwoods can take upwards of 40 years to grow to full maturity. At our current pace, around a million acres of diverse forests are lost each week around the world, and this number is only set to grow. Bamboo can easily replace hardwoods in numerous applications so that we can leave our beautiful forests that remain for the enjoyment of future generations.
Bamboo is hugely versatile; it can be used in paper, furniture, building materials, towels, linens, and flooring and to make charcoal. Its fibres are actually much stronger than wood fibres, making it a fabulous choice that wont warp as easily due to the environment. The fibres lend themselves well to making luxurious linens and bath towels that are plush and will wrap you in softness.
There is very little waste when using bamboo as all parts can be used for a wide variety of products. The plant makes great mulch, gorgeous furniture, and super soft linens. There is no need for spraying of fertilizer, herbicides or pesticides for bamboo to thrive. Cotton, by comparison, is the most intensively sprayed product in the world and leaves a soil depleted of nutrients in its wake. Bamboo sequesters necessary minerals in the soil and absorbs greenhouse gases to boot! It also absorbs carbon dioxide and releases more oxygen back into the environment than hardwoods do.
In a normal harvesting cycle of hardwoods, the trees are cut down and their stumps are burned. This is done to make room for another round of planting. Once the stumps and dead fall have burnt, there is no way to prevent erosion which removes topsoil and many nutrients via rainfall. Eroded soil can do damage to rivers and other waterways by clogging them and affecting any plants and animals downstream. Since bamboo roots arent burned away, they remain in place to help prevent erosion and also keep nutrients where they belong; in the soil.
Bamboo isnt overly picky about where its planted, and will thrive in many different climates and conditions; even in drought stricken areas where other crops are bound to fail.
